Instructional League Update for Week One

Our 2015 Instructional League regular season got underway on March 23.  After spending Opening Day with Striker the Cobra, our Instructional Leaguers were roaring and raring to go in their first official games.  The learning and fun never stops with these young kids.  For 2015, we have four teams in Instructional League.  We'd like to thank all of our players, parents, coaches and fans for supporting this age group, as it is vital for the future of baseball in our community.

O-Zone Update for Week One

Our 2015 O-Zone regular season started on Saturday, March 21.  Traditionally, our Opening Day games were abbreviated scrimmages.  This season, our older boys decided to put it all on the line from day one. 

In the first inning of the season, Darlington Packing's Noah Skeen set the tone for the season with a mammoth blast off of Pennington & Meadows.  Skeen and crew went on to win 10-2.  In the second game of the day, Willie Austin's Palmetto Pride defeated Josh Jones, Luke Johnson and Saleeby & Cox 10-5.

Saleeby & Cox wouldn't stay down for long, as they defeated Pennington & Meadows 8-5 in Monday's only O-Zone matchup.  On Tuesday, Zy'kee Knox, Brenden Lee and Emmanuel Pendergrass kept it close with Darlington Packing through five.  In the end, the big bats of DP were too much for the Pride to withstand.  The game ended 17-4 in favor of DeOnta Peterkin and the Darlington Packing.

On Wednesday, Pennington & Meadows picked up their first win of the season.  Bennett Meadows, Ryan Jordan and Grayson Wint led the Real Estate Moguls over Palmetto Pride 12-4.  A shorthanded Saleeby & Cox club, playing with three Minor Leaguers, played tough early, but eventually fell to Josh Irick and Darlington Packing by the score of 11-1. 

Though only one week into the season, Darlington Packing has separated itself from the back, holding a 2-game lead over the other three teams.

Farm League: Week One Update

The 2015 Farm League season got off to a quick start with six games being played in the first week.  The first game of the season proved to be exciting, as Caleb Walters, Ayden Valente and the Lions defeated Dave Pulling's Sonoco club 9-8.  In the nightcap, Shelley Gaymon's Kiwanis knocked off Palmetto Precision Products (affectionately known around the league as PPP) by the score of 10-6.

The Farm Leaguers were back at it on Tuesday, with Sonoco Recycling, lead by Marshall Wint, Jaden Carraway and Noah McAteer, defeated Kiwanis 13-3.  Sonoco was back at it on Tuesday and they had another tight one.  This time they came out on top; beating PPP 8-7. 

On Wednesday, Sonoco Recycling topped the Lions 15-8 in the 5:30 game.  Sonoco left little to chance in their third game of the week, topping Kiwanis 11-0.

Minor League Update for Week One

The 2015 Minor League season got underway on March 23 with Jiffy Print taking on SPC.  David Young's SPC club came decked out in Vegas gold and black and never looked back, knocking off Ace Gibson, Quez Hadley and Jiffy Print 9-3.  In the late game, Hartsville Surgical, led by dominant pitching performances from Alvee Fulwood and Miles Hall, downed MKA 10-4.

On Tuesday, MKA, led by Daniel Norwood, Andrew Askins and Chandler Greene, topped SPC 8-5 despite some timely hitting from Cole Winburn and Spencer Tallon.  Allstate and Jiffy Print squared off in the nightcap and it was one for the ages.  Great pitching from guys like Tate McLendon and Dewsy Meadows held the score down and kept the blood pressure up.  When all was said and done, Lawrence Hope and the boys of Jiffy Print won 6-5.

On Wednesday, there was only one game on Field 6.  The Fighting Stethoscopes of Hartsville Surgical took on Rob Teal and Terry Weekley's Allstate club.  It was a back and forth game from start to finish.  Heading into the last inning, the score was knotted at 8.  Hartsville Surgical's bats came through in the top half of the last inning and their defense was able to shutdown all the mayhem Allstate sent their way.  The final score was 12-8.

Thursday's Games Moved to Wednesday, March 25

 

Due to expected inclement weather, all games originally scheduled for Thursday, March 26, will be played on Wednesday, March 25.  Game times will remain the same. 

 

Picture times for Sonoco Recycling and Palmetto Precision Products will be postponed to a later date.  Allstate will have their pictures made on Wednesday.
