Futures Games Recap

On May 24, we held our first Futures Games.  These games were aimed at giving players who will be moving up in age divisions next season an opportunity to play a game in their 2017 age division.  In doing so, this gives players, parents and league officials a glimpse into the future of the league.

Eight teams were formed (4 each in Minors and O-Zone).  Players were given commemorative jerseys for playing in the game.  It was a great night of baseball at Byerly Park.  Futures Games were being played on Fields 6, 7 and 8, while the O-Zone Championship Series kicked off on Field 5.

Below are a few photos taken during the Futures Games:

We'd like to thank our coaches for the Futures Games:

F3, Championships 2

The NBA could learn a thing or two about close games in playoffs from Hartsville National.  Their 30-point blowouts are snoozefests compared to the tense, nail-biting action we see at Byerly Park.

With the O-Zone halves being won by different teams, a best-of-three playoff series started this week.  F3 won game one 7-6.  Allstate won game two 3-1.  It was no surprise when game three was a tight one.

F3 won a dramatic Game 3 by the score of 4-2.  While it was a total team effort, the outstanding defensive play of Xavion Robinson should be noted.  The outfielder made an amazing catch in the sixth inning and doubled off a runner to bring his team to within one out of the championship.  Bennett Meadows struck out the last batter to seal the championship for F3.

The O-Zone championship was the only F3 championship at Hartsville National in 2016.  F3 (team pictured below) also won the Farm League Championship with a unblemished record of 15-0.

Allstate Takes Game 2, Evens Series

In Game 2 of the O-Zone Championship Series, Allstate defeated F3 3-1 to even the series at one game apiece.  The rubber match will be Thursday at 6pm on Field 5 at Byerly Park.  Having already played six times this season, these familiar foes have a lot on the line in their final 6 innings of play.  Who will be the champion?  Will it be the Mayhem of Allstate or the Workout Warriors of F3?  Come join us at Byerly Park on Thursday to find out!

Dani's Devotional with F3 & Allstate

On May 25, Dani Young visited the O-Zone Championship Series for Dani's Devotional.  For the past few years, Mrs. Dani has led devotionals for the Pee Dee Padres travel baseball team.  On this Wednesday night, Dani spent time with F3 and Allstate, prior to Game 2 of their championship series.

Thank you, Mrs. Dani!

F3 Takes Game 1 of the O-Zone Championship Series

F3 took Game One of the O-Zone Championship Series against Allstate, 7-6.  The Mayhem fought back after following behind 7-1.  A huge 5th inning got them back in the game, but their comeback effort fell short.

F3 is now one win away from claiming the O-Zone season championship.  Allstate is down, but not out.  They'll need wins in games 2 & 3 to stake their claim as the 2016 Hartsville National O-Zone Champions!

Game 2 is set for May 25 at 6pm.  If necessary, Game 3 will be on Thursday at 6pm.

Go National!

F3, Allstate set to do Battle in O-Zone League Championship Series

Allstate won the first half championship in O-Zone with a 7-1 record and until the last week of the regular season, it seemed they were in position to win the second half.  The Fighting Iricks (Masons) and Workout Warriors (F3) had other plans.  In their last two regular season games, Allstate doubled their season loss total as they fell to the Masons 7-5 and F3 5-1.

For F3, the route to the O-Zone League Championship Series was a little different.  They headed into the last night of the regular season with a 4-2-1 record and needed to beat Allstate and finish a suspended game against the Lions Club.  After beating Allstate 5-1, F3's bats came out hot in they only needed one inning to overcome the Lions.  The second half championship belongs to F3.

Now, F3 and Allstate must play a Best-of-Three Series to determine the overall season champion.  The series starts on Tuesday, May 24, at 6;15 (just after the O-Zone closing ceremony).
