Closing Ceremony set for May 27

Hartsville National will hold its 2015 Closing Ceremony on May 27 at Byerly Park.

Each league will be introduced separately. Instructional League begins at 5:30. Farm gets underway at 6pm. O-Zone will go at 6:30. The ceremony will conclude with the trophy presentation to the Minor League teams at 7pm.

On ceremony activities will be held on Field 8.

Minor League Playoff on May 26: MKA vs. Jiffy Print

Darlington Packing and Sonoco Recycling ran away with the titles in O-Zone and Farm League, respectively. In Minors, 2015 has been a year of parity. And one thing is for sure: the parity has led to a fun-filled, highly-competitive season on Field 6.

On Tuesday, May 26, MKA and Jiffy Print will square off in a playoff game to decide the second half championship. Game time is 5:30. An MKA win would mean Coach Russ Norwood's crew would be the season champions. A Jiffy Print victory would mean additional playoff games between the two teams in the form of a best-of-3 series. Game 1 of that series would be held immediately following the Second Half Playoff Game on Tuesday.

Games 2 & 3 of that series will be held on Monday, June 1, if they are necessary. Game 2 would begin at 5:30, with Game 3 starting shortly after the conclusion of Game 2.

Both Jiffy Print and MKA finished with a 5-2 record in the second half.

MKA tops SPC in Playoff Game to Claim First Half Title in Minors

MKA and SPC met in their long-awaited first half playoff game on May 20. Through 4 innings, the game was a pitchers duel between Cole Winburn of SPC and Daniel Norwood of MKA. In the 4th though, the bats came alive and teams traded the lead back and forth. When all was said and done, MKA, sparked by two late inning extra-base hits from Shane Dillon, was victorious 12-7.

With three regular season games remaining, the second half championship in Minors is still up for grabs. For MKA, it's simple; win their last game and it'll be time to break out the bottles of sparkling grape juice. If MKA loses its last game, victories by SPC and Jiffy Print in their season finales could force a two or three-way tie for the second half.
